Im getting a reboot almost everyday from a bug check and its becoming very annoying especially as ive just put together a new pc and its doing exactly the same thing again as my old one.

Where can I find out more information as to whats causing it the event viewer just gives this

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000007f (0x0000000d, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000). Microsoft Windows 2000 [v15.2195]. A dump was saved in: C:\WINNT\Minidump\Mini101302-02.dmp.

Running Win2k Pro SP2
Asus p4s8x P4 2.53 512 mb ddr400 cas2.0 80gig ibm deskstar toshiba dvdrom pioneer a03
3com Nic

Any pointers greatly appreciated.

I don't know about the cause of the reboot, but you might try this to keep pc from rebooting
.
right click "my computer"
select "properties"
select "advanced" tab
select "startup and recovery"
deselect "automatically reboot"

Look like you installed something (the bugcheck) and this will be auto-loaded
on every start. Try this software:

http://lab1.de/prod/autostartmanager/index.htm

Don't worry that this is in another language, it's pretty simple to use!
Just klick on one entry and activate or de-activate the program and watch waht's happen - if you find the guilty one!

There you'll find all hidden autostarts from Windows, on my PC the "public" autot-start folder is empty, but there are 29 programs be startet in the background.

I assume you tried a "naked" installation as well - with a blank W2k? Same thing?

Yes it was a fresh pc and a fresh build.. I had assumed my old pc was knackered as i was gettin errors on my 2 60 gig seagate hds.. A friend at work said he used to get corrupotion on large hds and suggested to setup the disk with a disk quota i cant remember exactly what he sadi now but it wasnt using fdisk... The only things i brought accross from the old pc was the 3com nic which im starting to wonder as my old pc hasnt crashed since i took it off the net with this 3com nic.. I have another startup util you might be intersted in its a control panel applet by Mike Lin i thin its available from www.mlin.net

i will also try the dont reboot option. May give me some pointers as to the failure

Thanks for the quick replies
