Comment: How do I create a Windows 2000 Professional boot CD like the one here: http://www.wwchosting.net/bootdisk/cdboot1.zip http://www.wwchosting.net/bootdisk/cdboot2.zip http://www.wwchosting.net/bootdisk/cdboot3.zip http://www.wwchosting.net/bootdisk/cdboot4.zip http://www.wwchosting.net/bootdisk/makeboot.exe http://www.wwchosting.net/bootdisk/makebt32.exe I think that one is for the floppy bootdisk. Maybe, is there a way to create a bootable CD using that?

Reply: (edit)You could do a long winded way by adding all the floppy disk files to one virtual floppy disk then mount the image and when creating a boot cd choose to use the virtual floppy drive with thet disk image and then add the windows 2000 files to a cd (all the files). But Windoze2000 should boot from a cd anyway so why do you need the boot disks or a custom boot cd?

Reply: (edit)If you already have a Win 2000 CD but it doesn't boot, you can get a 4 floppy Setup set on the Microsoft site, booting and loading that will start Setup, and from there on the CD is used just like it would be if it were bootable.

Reply: (edit)Having reread the post, those are the boot files on the Win2000 CD which are used to make the bootable floppies as mentioned in response 2.

Reply: (edit)Oops - you're right - with 2000 they're on the CD. I guess I don't have a suggestion that would help in that case - I haven't used CD burners much. I've only fiddled with Win 2000 a little, about a month back, troubleshooting an existing 2000 installation (yielding not enough improvement), then loading both Win 2000 and XP Home fresh on a newer mboard etc. on a computer, re-using some parts. She had a SCSI burner drive that the bios wouldn't recognize as bootable, so I couldn't boot 2000. You do have to get a 6 floppy Setup set from the Microsoft site for XP if an XP CD is not bootable.
