Crashed computer HELP

I got this computer from a friend in the computer business. It is a good computer. I don't exactly know what kind it is. Here's the deal. I am desperate to save this thing. I made a BIG mistake and crashed the computer. I deleted the following file ntoskrnl.exe. The machine will not boot up. I get the error message, "<windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe>" "Please reinstall this file."
This file is missing or corrupt. I have a cdr/w drive,dvd rom,and zip drive. No floppy on this thing. Is there anyway to get this file back on this computer? I know the computer is excellent. Is it totalled because the file was deleted? Any help or suggestions would be great. I don't wnat to dump this computer if I can fix this.

If you have the OS CD, just boot to that and do a Repair of 2K. That'll fix it.

Well I don't have the OS. I can find a way to get it. Hate to admit it but I don't remember how to boot up to the os cd. I appreciate your response. Thanks,
