My computer was running slowly an then I found out that the cpu performance was running at 100%. I checked all the processes, checked for viruses and spyware but nothing. I wonder if any of you know what the problem is.

thanks if you could help me

Since you checked the processes, which process is pegged at 100%?

If you have a setting in your bios. For the cpu cache, L1 or L2 cache , >settings > writeback , writethru,,

choose the writeback and see if that helps , Don't know if it'll work or not but it may help...

Just sounds like a problem I had where the computer seemed somewhat sluggish in the performance area, and couldn't seem to find any reason for it ,,,

MSI 845e mb 1 gb ram and a p4 2.4n running xp ,win 2000 advanced server and win 98 SE alot to learn and I know so little !!!!

may be there is a worm in your system you can find it out by press CTRL+ALT+DEL and selecting the task manager and there may find a application service manager every time you start your computer. This infact is not application instead is a worm program which spoils your windows application programs possibly all files of exe extension in other words uses these files to produce more worms in this way the process is multiplicative and hence eats up the memory and slows down the system so
my sugession that you first scan your system
with "avg7" antivirus before your system breaks down completely
