Hi all!

I'm on 2k, and I got a user profile corrupt. How can I get it back to normal? Am I bugged?

Thanx in advance, and please bear with me, I'm not good at this... :(

All you need to do is create a new profile.

First, login as Administrator and go to c:\documents and settings\ folder. Rename the corrupt profile to something different.

Second, logoff and log in as that user. A new profile will be created.

Another way is to right-click on My Computer and select Properties. Click on the User Profiles tab. Find and select the corrupt profile and click the delete button. Logoff and log in as the user.

I had the same problem and when I fix it I will still have the same surprise again, which does not only make me lose my files but windows will "forget" about my installed programs like office...etc and I had to re-install everything
just like if I just installed win 2000. Very nasty isn't it?
The best thing to do is to keep backup of your profile, like I do. You can do that by right-clicking my computer and choosing properties then User Profiles. Choose your profile and click on Copy To. Choose a folder to save these file so when you have corruption if your profile name say "closter" create new folder bamed "closter" under /Documents and Settings/ and copy the backup files there, log off and on again and everything is back to normal. Try it.
I really have no idea myself why this corruption erorr, probably one of uncle Bill's focuses.

That was very kind of you guyz to answer. Thanx.

I've tried H's solutions, but none seemed to work. Let me be more specific, maybe it'll help (:o

Ok, when I go to c:\documents and settings\ folder, I have the following folders:

-Administrator
-Administrator.bak (this the corrupted)
-Temp
-Tempa7v266e
-Tempa7v266e.000
-All users

I first tried to rename the .bak. Couldn't do.
I then tried to log on under a different name, witch failed too, of course.
Finally I tried to go through the user profile tab. There was only Administrator there, and could not be erased. Sigh...

Now I know my right profile is
Administrator.bak. My files are there... If I copy Administrator (not the .bak), won't it be the wrong profile?

Guyz...thanx for coping with me. I'll try my best, and I'll be back.

I have had the exact same problem with mine, and am currently lost on finding a solution. Do you think it might be a virus? I need to know whether I should bother having someone try and repair my computer... any help?

If it helps at all, I found a page on Microsoft's website giving some information on this. I haven't looked over all of it, so I'm not sure if it has the information we need.
