Hi

I have a Realtek Rtl8169/8110 family Gigabit Ethernet NIC built into my motherboard that I was using to get online with my router

I had been having problems where it was locking up (disconnecting) alot I found out it was sharing the same IRQ as my soundcard after changing the IRQ it seems to mostly fix the problem

I still have the problem when using Bittorent or sometimes just playing games my connection will just stop and sometimes locks windows up requiring a reset. (manual shotdown just stays in windows most of the time)

when the connection dropped I tryed connecting my laptop to the routers usb interface and the router seems to be working and still online

I also tryed connecting it to my other network card also onboard (Nforce) and still occasionally getting disconnected

Im at a dead end and im unsure what to do dose anyone have any suggestions??

Thanks

ok a little more info..

I checked my error lock before reseting and found that dhcp was trying to renewing its address ?? (unsure why when I had been online for a while)

I found running a ipconfig /release and /renew seems to get the connection going again :D
but if Im running anything like bittorent it makes my PC lockup

still not sure why its doing it, and if no one has any sugestions im going to try a different network card
