I'm a newbie on Win2000. I have a cross-over cable but I need to know how to setup and connect a Win2000 Pro laptop and a Win2000 Pro desktop computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Goto Network and Dial-up connection (Start,Settings) and click on Make New Connection, select "Connect directly to another computer". Desktop PC should be host, and Laptop PC should be guest, then choose either Direct Parallel if you have cable for printer port (LPT1) or Communication Port (COM1/2) if you only have null-modem cable (serial). Remember parallel cable using printer port is faster than serial cable.
