My computer will not shut down properly. When I click on Start/Shut Down/Shut Down, nothing happens. It just sits there. I can press the power button & the computer will shut down. How can I fix this?

tap CTRL+ALT+DEL and choose task manager. now look for any running tasks. right click on them 1 by one and select END PROCESS TREE. after each one try to shut down the computer. allso loot to event viewer to see any related errors. right click MY COMPUTER and choose MANAGE. in the left pane select EVENT VIEWER and click on system and then application logs for the errors. read what they say and see if thats your problem. it could allso be an anti virus problem. if you run nortons then disable it and then try to shut down. allso try updating your version of windows at the microshaft update site. good luck AJ
