Alright, here's my probelm. I'm running Windows 2000. Well, it had been running straight for 3 months (i.e., it was never powered down during that time). Well, the available mem was getting kind of low (memory leaks), so I figured a reboot was in order. I restarted the computer via the start menu and now the computer won't boot. Here's what it does: I turn on the computer and immediately hear a beep. The floopy drive light also immediately comes on and the computer tries to access the floppy drive. No signal is reaching the monitor. The CPU fan and power supply fan all come on and start spinning. There is never any hard drive activity. After the computer tries to access the floppy drive, it sets there for about 2 seconds and tries the floppy drive again. I put a bootable floppy in the drive and started up the computer, but it does the same thing as i described above. I tried resetting cmos via the jumper and also removed the cmos battery and replacing it. Anybody have any thoughts on what i can try to fix this?? Thanks.

Try to boot the computer with w2k CD and let it runs as if installing from new until you can select 'R' for restore. Select Manual option and select the restoring options you required (I think pressing ENTER to select/deselect the option, but I'm not sure). Hope it helps.

Well, here's the thing. I'm not so sure that it will boot from the CD as I can't even get it to boot from the floppy (I'd try it now, but I'm at work). The computer never does a self test or memory check. I'll definitely try your suggestion, though. Thanks!
