my computer keeps shutting down when i play games. its been doing this during the summer and its getting worse. i know its not the power supply because because ive boughten a new case that came with new power supply. and power supply is better than my old one. and its not a virus cuz ive been scanning. its either my proccesor, GPU, or RAM. but im not sure. My CPU usage goes up real easily too. i previously had 256 RAM but now i have 512. could my old stick be bad? is my proccesor damaged? Is my GPU damaged? Help please.

Bad power supply, bad RAM and heat are the most common problems. Check them all. Also check for virus, spyware and adware.

You can avoid many of these Windows problems with Linux. Linspire eases the transition for new users

i know its not the power supply. its not a virus. so its probably the ram? i have two 256 sticks of RAM. i used to have one. so maybe the first stick is bad? i had this problem since i had 1 stick as well. My old case i had in the summer didnt have good cooling. so maybe the CPU, GPU, or a stick of RAM is permantly damaged?

try memtest86 to check your RAM, and monitor your cpu temp during running cpu intensive applications it might be getting too hot

ok so my AMD's been really hot all the time. AMDs are known for that. and one of my sticks of RAM (the old one) is right next to the proccesor and it made that stick hot and it got permanant damage. i took that one out and tried it with just my newer stick and it hasnt shutdown at all. so the shutdown issue is all figured out. but im gonna check my CPU temp anyways to see how hot it is.
