My computer, Sony Vaio with Windows 2000 Professional hangs up on boot-up for about 30-40 seconds, then completes and loads the desktop. A few of the icons show up, then it stops. Finally it finishes. In the event log I have two messages (which may be unrelated. 1) Service Control Manager: The following boot-start or system-start failed to load: UdfReadr. And 2) Cdralw2k Service failed. Neither of these may be the problem. I don't know how to verify the boot-up like Win 98 to try and find where its hangs up. I removed all the Windows updates and removed the McAfee Virus scan (completely). The probelm occured after I updated Windows, McAfee Virus Scan and went to Internet Exployer 6.0. I haven't removed IE 6.0. The problem did not go away when I removed the software and updates. I hope someone can help.
