I have a fan inside the case. What I want to know is at which side it should be placed?

I can switch it sides to push air into the case or switch it to take air out of the case.

Which is right?

Thank you.

Pete, Some will say push air in and others will say push air out. Ideally,if you have side vents in your computer case and most cases have that. Then you want to pull(push) air into your case. Heat is the worst enemy to computer hardware. More ciculation you can get into a case helps to dissipate heat. Try both ways and monitor your temperature, should she a 5+ degree difference in motherboard temperature by pulling air into the system instead of pushing air out.

Hello, Pete gives a very interesting insight on how the the air should flow inside our computer case. Sometimes I wonder should we change the direction of flow according to season. E.g. Push air out when it's summer and pull air in during winter.

Also, I think the air should be able to flow, not just pull or push air in one direction. Normally, I would pull air from the front of the computer case and push it out at the back so we have good air circulation.

Unfortunatley I have only 1 fan inside my case and I tried both ways and I am still not sure what is better.

The fan is in the front of my computer.

Thank you for your advise.

Push air out of the back, the power of pushing is much stronger than pulling. You will get more cooling effecency that way. And you can keep the box cleaner by watching the front of the case to keep the dust wiped off, which will also help the cooling.
