whenever a message pops up or i am on AOL instant messenger and i send or receive a message, the computer beeps. the speakers are turned off, and the beep comes from the computer. it is really annyoing. does anyone know how to stop the beep??

isn't it the mothercoard beep that you hear when you haven't installed sound drivers? When your drivers aren't installed it replaces everything with a beep.

Crude but it works. Just open up your case and pull the wire connected to the motherboard from the "speaker" that beeps.

Also, try installing a sound card and it will remove the beep. It beeps because it can't find a sound card. If one is installed, reinstall aim.
