I need help... my modem is recognized by windows 2000 but doesn't work??? what do I do... it doesn't want to switch to com2... does anyone know where I can fin a driver for this modem... for win 2000??? please help me
Has anyone check the microsoft tech net. also check out driverguide.com. There are a lot of people that have reported a fix for your problem.

Microsoft, Compaq, and every message board dealing with this 56k-df modem and Win2k are saying the same thing: You're screwed! Simply let Compaq know that you will buy nothing else from them, and MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIVES!

I've been fighting the same problem with win 2000, NT, ME, XP... Hmmm, it works under LINUX!!! Phear the Penguin, Microsloth!!!
But really, need a fix for win 2k. Dual booting only goes so far. I've tried all the driver upgrades available, but none of them work. Windblows reports a bios error code 29, which normally would be fixed with a firmware upgrade, which compaq does not offer. Perhaps a few phone calls, and Compaq could lose their contract with this Fortune 500 company I work for..... Oh, wait a minute, we already switched to DELL!!! ;)
