I installed win2k pro on my compaq presario 1650 laptop, everyhting went well except 2 problems. (a) When I click restart, the computer goes into restart mode, everything is ok does its thing but when it gets to where i have to choose operating system win98 or win200 the system freezes. If i do a complete shutdown and startup every thing works fine. Any Help on this matter or has anyone had this problem. (b) I new about this problem before i installed win2000 (Win Modem 56k DF) Has anyone solved the problem for Compaq yet?????

I am also searching for the modem solution for my 1635 model (get a code 29 resource error from Device Manager). If I find one, i'll mail you - if you find one i'd appreciate a link ! Regards

to fix the modem issue, try this... In the modem properties, go to recources and: ((im assuming you have a valid input/output range and a ? next to the Interupt Request.)) -> click 'set configuration manually' -> uncheck 'use automatic settings' -> highlight 'interupt request' -> click change settings -> find an open IRQ then reboot... it worked for me, hopefully you'll get the same results!

Any luck guys? my problem is a bit different... i have installed the win2k pro modem driver from lucent's site. Send me a mail if you need it. But it doesn't open any port...manual configs don't help either...i get a code10 error in device manager (cannot start device). The driver configures the PCI Modem to run from COM3, and there is no COM3 port listed in Ports. Adding COM3 has also not been successful! I'd appreciate anything on this!
