Command prompt from safe mode menu

i was just wondering if theres a way to access the win2k command prompt from the f8 safemode menu before booting, ive looked through it and dont see no option (might be blind). can anyone tell me how to get to command prompt before win2k loads.
i remember ages ago my pc totally screwed itself over and i had no idea how to access my ntfs drive lol so this might be helpful

Insert the w2k CD, reboot the system from the CD as if you are reinstalling it. Choose R for recovery, then enter Administrator's password, and you will be in. Type HELP from there for a set of commands.
