Changing the resolution.

Hi,
I just bought a new screen, the View Sonic VX1962wm Series LCD, and they suggested I set the resolution at 1680 x 1050. Unfortunately, my W2k only gives me a few resolution options that are already set and imposed by the computer, in other words neither can I find the suggested resolution, nor I can change it manually. I was wondering if anybody had a solution to that? Is there a way I can change it? Because now I have it set a 1600 x 1200 and it's a tiny bit blurry. Thanks for the help in advance, I would really appreciate!

Was there a CD included with the monitor? What video card do you have in the system, and do you have the current drivers for that?

They're not imposed by the computer, they're imposed by the video driver. Which video card do you have? You need to update your video drivers.
And as Jennifer mentioned, if there was a driver CD that came with the monitor, make sure you install it. If there was no CD, all you need to do is go to the Viewsonic website & download the driver:
