I am using Group Policies to lock down computers. I have set the 'Hide these drives from My Computer' and 'Prevent access to drives from My Computer' policies to retrict access to drives a,b,c and d.
If I click on the Start Menu and choose Search, it is still possible to search the local harddrives for files and open them from the Search Results window - not the security I was hoping for.
I don't want users to be able to access files this way but I do want them to be able to search Active Directory and network drives (so removing the Search option won't work).
Does anyone know how I can remove the Local Harddrives (C:) from 'Look in' drop-down menu on the search window.

I´m afraid this is a security gap, unavoidable if you use just Windows. I don´t know any security programs that can restrict access to what you don´t want users to see, but I´m sure there are a few out there.
At work, I have a simmilar problem: if I have MS Office installed and run any of its programs and then I go to the open file dialog window, if I type, for example, "c:\" it automatically shows me all the files. Windows, in this aspect, sucks!!!!!!
