Is there a way to change Pagefile settings through the recovery console? I attached a second hard drive to my machine, then restarted, and apparently Win2K moved the pagefile to that drive. Now, when Windows starts up and I login, I receive a "no pagefile is setup" error message with instructions on how to change pagefile settings. After clicking "OK", the system automatically logs me off. It's rather difficult to fix the pagefile when I can't login! Note that booting into safemode does the same thing. I've run repair, chkdsk, etc. etc. with no results. Short of re-installing Win2K, I would like to know if anyone knows how to adjust pagefile settings through the recovery console. Thanks!

From what I have read in windows 2000 books, you cannot change the pagefile size in the recovery console. That is mainly for stopping services and copying files over that may have been corrupted during a new device install. I thought though that windows 2000 would allow you to at least login to it even if the pagefile was too small. When you changed the pagefile over to the new drive, did you have at least a 1 meg pagefile on the previous drive? I know that this is needed. However, you might have to reinstall. Sorry.

Yea, isn't that automatic logging off annoying? I restored a drive image yesterday and that same thing kept happening, except it also kept logging me on automatically too. On, off, without end. Drove me nuts.

I found the problem to be the win2k drive had been moved to a new drive letter!?

Anyway, have you tried removing the new drive and seeing if windows will start up like usual? At least your OS hasn't been hosed. I'd also double check your jumper settings on the hd's if they are on the same cable. Maybe you're using cable select and have the cable on wrong. Better yet put the second hd on ide2(assuming your using ide drives)
