What is it that you want to do that is making you thing of changing? Any problems? Fo me the only benefits that my XP Operating System has over my 2000 is the ease of using my digital camera, and switching between users. The only reason I have XP is that it came with a new computer for free. I would not spend a dime to purchase it, since I have 2000. I personally do not consider XP an upgrade from 2000, as 2000 is XP without phoning home to Microsoft and is just as stable. I have added "msconfig", it was one feature that I think 2000 needed. With XP you need to get "Powertoys" to easily disable all the stuff that drives you nuts like "ballon tips" and other things.

hi thanx for responding
i just wanted to know if XP was just a better operating system for a dsl connection.like maybe faster surfing.because when i changed from win 98 to win 2000 the web for me was alot faster.i was mainly wondering if the same is true with upgrading to XP.plus this is a homemade comp i bought it off somebody and i use the win 2000 drivers for all my devices i thought mabe the XP drivers might be more up to date, and make my system run smoother.
but thanx for the quick response

I have seen no increase in performance or what could be decribed as smoother running, and I use dsl. In fact some people have devices and have trouble getting XP drivers and they must try and use 2000 drivers. There also are problems with software that is not XP compatible, especially games.

I have xp on a 1800+ processor, 512 meg ram. Windows 2000 on a 700 intel celeron, 128 meg of ram.

I cant tell the difference between the two when surfing.

Stick to 2000.

I have 4 win2k boxes, 2 win98, i win xp and 2 linux laptops going out a dsl. I've seen no surf speed difference what-so-ever between them.

No reason to change if thats your only concern. Upgrading your dsl connection will have more impact that the OS.

i ll keep 2000 i was just curios thought maybe with an updated operating system would things run better.
my dsl connection is fine i have a 1.5mps connection and i download at 184kbs .i just thought since i have troubles finding drivers for my components and i use win 2000 drivers that xp would have better drivers and things would run a bit quicker.
