The problem is a little bit mysterios for me.
I use Windows 2000 since the Beta 3 is out. And had the problem bout 4 times:
everything works fine, suddenly the CD ROMs do net read the CDs any longer: I have to boot up with a CD in the CDROM --> otherwise i CANT use the CDROM.
I didnt see a special reason for this problem ... most times this happens MONTHS after installing win 2k and i reinstall Win 2k and everthing works fine

But this time .. this problem startet some days after reinstall

And this time i DONT reinstall it. It pisses me off

Anyone an idea whats the problem?

thx in advance for solutions

Check your cd-rom driver to see if it's compatible, scan to see if you have any viruses, restart your comp when a cd's can't be read, uninstall and reinstall your cd drive completely. Try the following and see if any of them work. Have you been running easy cd creator or any burning cd software, installed or uninstalled any?

There have been reports of Nero and Adaptec Easy CD not getting along. Maybe the problem is somewhere in there.

Also try removing all except 1 of our 3 CD Drives.
Boot up with each one and see which one is causing the problem.
