Hi;
All was well, until one day my cd drive (E) just evaporated. It's still registered in Windows Explorer, but when you put a disk in, it spins for a bit and stops. If you click on the drive it says "Please insert a disk into drive E."
Now the funny part. It works with some disks just fine (mostly no, but a couple are fine), and it works without a hitch in DOS!
Cables are fine and I've reinstalled the latest drivers, so that's not a problem so far as I know.
Oh, this problem is ONLY with cd's. It reads DVDs (most of the time) just fine. Also, this problem seems to be with all programs - cd player won't play a cd from that drive and neither will Realplayer/Jukebox. Except for a few "special" cds, no programme will acknowledge that there is a cd in the drive!
I've been working around this for a while (by not using the drive) but would like to see it fixed some day!

Thanks

Yeah
I have been here. This can be either the motherboard does not have a great connection "not very likely" or that the laser on the drive is weak and out of line. If youhave a warranty or such return it or have them fix it. Most likely they will replace it.
