I have just installed 256mb SDRAM Pc100 on my (ageing) pc. When I switched it back on everything looked ok, Hardware profiles stated that the RAM had registered.

However my CD ROM is now refusing to work. Its is a creative labs CD3630E AC101(thats what it says in properties) I can right click on CD Icon and eject.

I have tried un-installing and re-installing the drivers.

Any halp greatly appreciated.

Try going into the device manager and uninstalling the CD-ROM device. Then reboot and reinstall it and the necessary drivers and see if that doesn't do the trick.

In installing the memory have you checked that you haven't knocked the cable on the main board or the back of the cd-rom?
