I'm using win2000. (erm, quite new to win2000) My CD rom drive seems to be locked - it seems not to give other applications the permission to access my drives! With some applications I get a messege the CD rom drive could not be found and I should go and fiddle with the Administrator settings... I tried to have a look - but obviously was not right clicking at the right icons in the right folders... zzz... How do I fix this?
Under your Admin Tools, in the Local Policies settings, you'll see a large list of things you can clamp or release in there. This includes restricting access to the CDR. Take a look there.

ok, I tried - but could not see anything that might have havd anything to do with my problem... maybe apart from one option called: "Restrict CD-ROM access to locally logged-on users only" and that option was disabled anyway. Also, even if I tried to change it - it had no effect on the main list that displays what's enabled and what's not... I am totally lost!
