Comment:
I am a gamer and i use an out of game voice chat service and i also use ingame voice service, i cant only get one program to enable the mic at a time and i always have to start one or the other first. I was told this is a win2k problem, and i believe this because in XP works with the same hardware,
I stopped using 2000 as soon as XP was stable. 2000 Pro is more a business desktop than a home use desktop. In my experience, it sucked for gaming...which is why I switched. The games I had trouble with in 2000 run properly in XP.
If I might suggest, you may want to consider changing your OS.
I'm guessing you're talking about something like teamspeak and have your voice commands work in-game at the same time. For example, I like to play MOHAA. I join teamspeak with my friends while we game on our server(s). Some of the guys have tried to use voice based commands to make their characters make comments in-game instead of using the commands from the keyboard. I've noticed that most who try to have both working at the same time have nothing but grief as the mic can't sort the two inputs out. The mic, and software is not designed to differentiate beteen conversation and commands. If you wire "mess with the best, die like the rest" in-game character comment to the word "best" (for example)....then when you're talking on TS and should you say something like "I had the best time last night" your going to initiate the comment "mess with the best, die like the rest" from your in-game character without meaning to as the voice command software can't differentiate between a casual comment and a command you intended to initiate.
My suggestion is to choose which one you want and kill the other. If it were me, I'd kill the commands to make characters talk in-game and just stick with talking to my friends. We kick people out of our servers for "spamming" with the character garbage as it's just basically annoying listening to some idiot run around endlessly making comments in-game (well ok, we'll tell you shut it up just once, if you don't, then we kick you from the game).
My mistake, when you said "I am a gamer and i use an out of game voice chat service and i also use ingame voice service," I assumed you were talking about gaming.........how stupid of me.
Try explaining in a little more detail then and skip the extraneous information. If you're not using it for gaming, then why mention gaming to begin with?
How about the actual names of the programs you're talking about? It might help as someone here may actually have experience with that exact same software. How about explaining what it is exactly you're trying to accomplish with the two different programs?
well I dont know what your talking about with MOHAA. becuase I dont play that game and it was difficult to understand if you were talking about an INGAME VOICE CHAT SERVICE or some buttons you press to make your character say "go go go"
"Try explaining in a little more detail then and skip the extraneous information."
Here I'll copy and paste what I posted again. ASIDE FROM GAMING:
I cannot get Two programs (2 different programs. or Two of the same) to enable voice recording the same time.
I cannot get Two programs (Two different programs. or 2 of the same) to enable voice recording the same time.
I cannot get Two programs (Two different programs. or Two of the same) to enable voice recording the same time.
With that said, incase ur wondering why I need 2 voice recording programs at once to work. I am a gamer and I use ventrilo and CS (counter-strike)
I play Counter-Strike. I also use ventrilo/teamspeak.
NORMALY it works like this: Press a button to talk to people in Teamspeak with my real voice. Press a different button to talk to people IN A GAME with my real voice.
But it doesn't work as normal. depending on which one i start first is the one that works.
