I replaced my 2nd HD with a new one from Maxtor. I don't understand why I can't find itin "My Computer". Although this new HD was detected as a secondry master during the start up and it was shown in the BIOS page. I tried the search for the new hardware, updated the driver and checked the device/hardware setup wizard, all indicated that the HD was there and were functioning normally. I rebooted the machine many times and I simply can't find this HD in "my computer". Please advise, thanks.

Thank you. I've also done a lot of reading and it seems that is the step that I missed. Now how do I format the new HD (I'm very low tech and still learning. Should I:
Boot up the machine with the first of the four start-up disks and I should be able to format the new HD, am I correct? (I can only write but not able to physically doing it since this is my home machine that I'm having problems and I'm working right now).

You should be able to format it through AdminTool's Computer Management. (Start, Settings, Control Panel, Administrative Tools. Expand Storage, then click on the Disk Managment folder.
Right click on the volume and choose format.
That should do it (make it NTFS if it asks).
