My W2K system will not print. I have a multi boot system (W98/W2k/ Free BSD Unix). C: is the root of 98, D: is the root of 2K (same drive) Unix is on a second drive. I'm using Boot magic to select and boot the O/S I want.
Under W98, I have no problem printing to either a Rolland 2465 Dot Matrix or an HP Laserjet L5.
Under W2K I get nothing but an error message stating there was a problem printing the file...
I'm using the same printer cable and LPT1. Each version of windows finds the same driver for the printer I am trying to set up. i.e. under each O/S when I "add printer" I can find either the exact driver or a "compatible" one and W98 prints fine, but W2K does not even though I select the same choices under each O/S.

The only possible thing i could think of is, maybe Win2k doesnt support this printer. Or the correct drivers arent installed. I maybe wrong, but just a thought!

Who are you logged as when you are trying to print on Windows 2000? If you are not logged on a local power user or administrator, you will get an error message due to permissions. We have a network, and when I was logged on as admin, I could print but a regular network user could not. I found out that the user needed full control permission to the WINNT/Temp folder where the print jobs are spooled - then everyone could print.
