Hi, maybe there's someone here who can help me:
I just set up a new PC for a friend of mine, using Win 2000 Professional.
So far, everything works great, except of the Audio-CD feature. Whenever I try to play one of these, the PC crashes.
Even when I try to launch the Win2000 CD-Player WITHOUT a CD in the drive, it says: Drive is being scanned (or sth. like this, I'm using the german version) and then crashes.
Winamp doesn't crash, but can't play CD audio tracks either.Data CD's work fine and other sounds (like wavs, mp3s etc.) are fine as well.
I have an ECS Mainboard with Via KT266 Chipset here ...
Newest Bios, newest ASPI, SP2 installed.
Any Ideas how to solve this very strange problem (i've built dozens of PC's, but never encountered such a problem) ...
