Subject: Can't logon to windows 2000OS: Windows 2000CPU/Ram: Intel Pentium 4 |
Comment: I can't login to windows 2000! somebody please help me! When i try to login as "Administrator" it shows the error of "The Local policy of this system does not permit you to log on interactively." i know i have to login with a different client, but i don't know any other client! is there any way to find out other clients without loggin in to windows?? can anyone solve my problem? If so, I would be truly grateful, thanks!

Reply: (edit)use the F8 function on startup and use savemode. If u use a domain to logon to with a client then please use the domain administrator account to logon. An other approach is to logon to the pompt and execute gpupdate and try again. if this is a stand allone client, then reinstall using the option repair and try to logon again... or contact the microsoft support site for more approaches.. "i will not post some other methods for they may be used as exploit. sorry" Regards, Chris Gralike System Engineering

Reply: (edit)Jason, do you have access to another computer with 2kPro or XP? If so there is a ralatively easy way to get in, takes all of 15 minutes. The one drawback is that it will ELIMINATE all users on the computer EXCEPT the administrator. It will also RESET the Administrators password. _________________________ The internet is no longer a toy, it's a COMBAT ZONE!

Reply: (edit)Open the box and remove the hard drive from the problem computer, change the jumpers and slave the HD into another computer and search for a SAM(with no extension) file (ignore the SAM.log, you just want the SAM file). The one you want is in the D:\WINNT\System32\config. Delete the file and put the HD back in the original box after you change the jumpers back to master. When you boot it up there will only be Administrator available and the password MUST be left blank. After you get it all done you will have to create the users over again, but that's simple. _________________________ The internet is no longer a toy, it's a COMBAT ZONE!

Reply: (edit)I got a good idea which should fix it in a couple of minutes. Download Austrumi; a linux bootable ISO. It sounds strange, but it really works. Download the program here: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/austrumi/austrumi-0.9.7.iso?download Burn in on a CD, make sure it is an ISO, so you can boot it on startup. Once you are in the program typ: nt_pass and it will give you a menu of the different acounts active on the computer. Just follow the instructions on the screen and the password will be erased. Make sure to use * for a new password, which means no password, and then change the password to your own preference in windows itself. Boot the computer and voila! you're in

Reply: (edit)Just typ it in quickly when you see the start screen as it will otherwise go to the linux setup. So once the disc has been recognized and the start screen comes up, typ nt_pass and then the program will guide you through it.
