When I try to add a win 2k workstation to the domain, I enter the domain name 'Killbugs' then it asks for a user name and pswd it the comes up with 'the following error occured attempting to join the domain "KILLBUGS" The network path was not found' I can access files and folders even remote desktop using the domain but cannot add the computer to the domain, nslookup also says server name unknown... this is driving me crazy. I want to be able to login to roaming accounts stored on the server.

Are you adding it by just chaning from ws to domain or are you using the nw id wizard?

Chances are that your DNS cannot find the server location.... are you behind a firewall? If you are in your tcp/ip setting and your internet settings are set to "automatic" then that might be your problem. For example if your "domain Server" is 192.168.1.1 then you need to manually stick in there. 1. Are you behind a firewall? 2. Who is DHCP?, Server or router?

Recently I had a similar problem. I was trying to attach a series of workstations to a W2K3 domain. I forgot that when connecting I needed to state the domain I was connecting to should be named domain.local when configuring network support on the ws's. Prior to that each attempt gave me a can't see the domain, please check the domain name and try again.
