cant install win2k pro

when my pc restarts after installing win2k, it doesnt continue the setup process. ive tried using the 4 boot disk, then it just displays either a blinking underscore or 'NTLDR is missing'.help pls.tnx.

Did you change the boot selection to hard drive or simply take out the cd?

Try reinstalling Windows 2000, and check your Bios

heather, thanks. usually it would restart after copying all the files (done that in other machines), then it would restart regardless if the cd is there. but in this case, it just hangs there showing this blinking cursor again. dark angel: thanks. ive tried reinstalling it again (and again), same prob. BIOS is checked and good.

Win2k requires 64mb ram -I notice you only have 32mb. Even if you can get it working with only 32mb, is it really worth it? It's going to be dead slow.

I had this problem when I was using a Windows 2000 disk that was slightly dirty. Not saying that is the problem, but it went ahead and installed like nothing was wrong (even though I noticed the CD itself was pretty dirty, and wondered if it would work or not), and upon reboot, just hung. After cleaning the CD-ROM, it installed fine.
Might clean the CD-ROM with some mild soap and warm water and try again.
