Hello, I am having problems installing integrated sound. I am pretty sure it is Realtek because that's what driver it gives me for the sound on my motherboard on intel.com. When installing those drivers, or the drivers from the Realtek site, my computer suddenly reboots and I get no sound. I had almost the same problem in XP, but instead of rebooting it said something like "Windows has shut down to avoid damage to your computer." It works fine in Linux, so I don't think it is broken. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check the bios for sound and memory settings.Make sure the sound is activated. The computer stops when you have hardware problems(probably memory).Realtek Audio is generally the AC-97 on integrated motherboards.Make sure you uninstall the drivers from Add/Remove Programs before you attempt a second setup for the same hardware. It's too bad you don't have the drivers setup CD for this specific motherboard model. You can confirm the hardware installed on this computer with AIDA32 or Everest Home Ed.programs easily found on the web.Good luck
