Subject: Can't go into standby!OS: Windows 2000CPU/Ram: P2 266MHz 96 MB RAM |
Comment: I just upgraded my comptuer from Windows 98 to 2000 because I like the stability it offers. I am now unable to put my computer into standby. The option is not even in the shut down menu after I click the shut down button. The computer runs jsut fine. In fact, I think it may even be faster than it was before. I only have 96 MB of RAM. Would that be causing it not to go into standby?

Reply: (edit)Angel, he just said that he doesn't HAVE the option on the shut down menu. Eric, you don't have the choice because the PC is either not using the W2K advanced power options or because it is unable to use them. Check Control Panel>Power Options and see if you have a tab that allows you to select "Enable APM". If you don't have this option in the Power Settings applet, you may need to update your computers BIOS
