Okay, i had linux and win98 in my HD (only one) I formatted hole HD to fat 32, and started installing 2k. After first reboot in setup it starts to check my hd and after it comes a message:"this drive is corrupted.." Why is this, i installed 98 again with no problems. No matter where i do the partition on the disk, or is it fat,fat32 or ntfs, 2k setup still wont go further? help.

If you are using sector translation soft such as WD's EZDrive, disable->unistall->kill it first

I don't have linux partition anymore, i cleared hole drive and made a partition for win 2k with partition magic, and also tried fdisk, both formatted drive without problems. No EZdrive in use. Scanned surface with scandisk -> no problems. Weird, thats all i can say.

Do you have a bootable W2K install CD? If yes, boot with it and if you can get to the point where W2K asks where it should install to, delete all the partitions on your drive and let it make a new partition, tell it to install to this new one and let it format it to NTFS. Maybe W2K has a problem with the Master Boot Record or with the bootsector of your drive or it thinks the partition isn't activated properly. W9x isn't that precise with it's partitions. If you don't have a bootable CD or if you can't get to that point in setup maybe try booting a W98 disk and type fdisk /mbr (writes new clear master boot record) and make sure the primary partitioon of your drive is activated. But your right it's weird... Hope that helps and you'll be able to install W2K. It's a fine system. Idefix

Tried that too, started setup from win98 and then 2k setup started formatting drive to ntfs, when it was 99%done -> same error "this drive is corrupted, setup cannot continue..."

Okay, I finally got the setup go through! There was some problems in MBR, so fdisk/MBR did the trick. Thanks to you all for your efforts.
