I work with a teacher who has an old Dell that is not supported by the district. I am trouble shooting for her. When her computer boots, the password screen appears and requires you to use the ctrl-alt-delete key to proceed to the login and password screen. However, I have used three different keyboard/mice and the command keys will not activate the screen change? Can anyone help? Thank you, Lisalou

I know it sound stupid but I've seen the mouse and the keyboard holes reversed. Swap them.
If not, try a USB keyboard. If it still doesn't work, boot w/ any boot disk and see if the keyboard responds. If there is still a problem, it could be a mother board problem.

JenniferSUMN and Don2006,
Thank you to both of you! I will work on your two suggestions when I return to school Tuesday. As far I as know, the keyboard/mouse is standard USB (round type). I have never created a boot disk, however, I know I could create one from my own VAIO, PCV-RX550 Windows XP computer? This might not be compatible with W-200?I'll keep you posted and I certainly appreciate your help!

USB connectors are not round. PS2 connectors are round and are usually color-coded in newer computers, either orange, purple, or green.
Life is more painless for those who are brainless.

Dear islandlover,
I couldn't get ur point. What is wrong if u had to press alt +ctrl + Del.
My Question is that.. Can u type any thing on User name and password ?
if u can then everything is ok.
what u have to do is go to local Security Settings and Local Policies and to security option, there u wil find lots of options among those options there must be one option "Disable CTRL + ALT + DEL Requirement for Login". Just Disable that option security.
will work.

Thank you to the three of you who responded! The problem was actually the reversal problem! Boy did I look like a hero! I love this networking site and will return very soon I'm sure.
With thanks to Jennifer, Don and Kacha...islandlover.
