Can't get into ibm aptiva bios

My computer suffered a power surge that killed the power supply.New poer supply bought and installed but can't get pass the ibm welcome screen.Can anyone tel me how to get into the bios to have this computer booting back up.Note sure if the hard drive was fried as well during the power surge.

You can try F10 or F2 to get into the BIOS is hitting the DEL key doesn't work.
If PC still won't get past welcome screen, try unplugging all the cables from the motherboard and remove all expansion cards except for video- see if PC will boot then. If not, the motherboard may be shot. If it does, try putting the expansion cards back in and plugging in the cables one at a time. If system starts hanging after a particular device is reconnected, that device may be shot.

My Aptiva uses F1 for BIOS setup entry.

all ibm machine`s use f1 to access the bios. if you still cant get in, then you would have to did a system strip as already suggested.if the systme strip does not work then the motherboard is damaged. you can also try reseating the battery and leaving it out of the machine for an hour or so.
