I have a Windows 2000 Advanced Server computer configured to share my Ameritech DSL internet connection. There are two client computers, a Win98SE PC and a MacOS X laptop. Neither of the client systems can upload files to any FTP server. There isn't a problem connecting to the server, or downloading a file. But every time I try to uplad a file it will stop half-way and then give me an error message about a dropped connection or a time-out. The ICS host doesn't have this problem.
I have tried the following without any success.
1. Using a public proxy
2. Using multiple FTP clients (Mac and PC)
3. Using a Passive Mode connectionThere is a microsoft page that describes something about opening a port in the ICS firewall, but I amd unsure what exactly i'd have to enable as far as TCP and UDP ports for an FTP upload.

The issue with FTP and ICS is that the host header does not contain source & destination information, it is in the payload or the data it's self. see the article
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/wceics/htm/_wcecomm_NAT_Editor_API.asp
Check out this link it tells you how to add the ports for ICS. and the ports is 20,21 TCP for standard FTP.
Secure FTP and rerouted standard ports won't work with this default setup.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/en/professional/help/default.asp?url=/windows2000/en/professional/help/howto_share_conn_config.htm - Good luck
By the Way, if you have a router/firewall device use that instead of ICS, it's more efficient, less hassel, etc..
