Sigh..
Recently I decided to unintall cygwin32, which basically consists of deleting the cygwin directory. I got the following error message Unable to delete Directory not empty. I did check and it was most certainly empty. So I fired up the command prompt and tried to delte it ther to no avail. I cd'd into the directory in question, typed dir and got this output:C:\apps>dir
Volume in drive C has no label.
Volume Serial Number is 1C21-67DEDirectory of C:\apps
10/12/2002 04:14p .
File Not FoundC:\apps>
Followed by the error message "The file or directory c: is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the chkdsk utility." repeated twice.
I have run chkdsk at least a dozen times. When I run it without /f from inside windows it detects the error. However it does not when chkdsk is run from the recovery console or at reboot. Recovery console returns a similar error message when I try to delete it. I can move it. I can copy it. I can rename it. Just cant delete it.
Norton Win Doctor finds the problem but just stops when trying to find a solution for it.So Ive just hidden the file for now. (out of sight out of mind right).
Anyone got any ideas on what else i could try to delete this puppy?

Running W2K, SR3, and I am having the same problem on a file in a backup folder. I have tried to rewrite it, delete it, move it, can rename it, but I just get the same message over and over and it is indeed empty. Don't seem to find rmdir on my disk or deltree. Am stumped. Anyone?
