We have a fresh installation of Windows 2000 professional and promptly copied user files from an old hard-drive to the new. Now we find we can't copy or move files around on the harddrive or to an external device.
Has anyone experienced such a problem and pls advise what was the cause and fix.

Hi. Do you mean that the Windows 2000 Pro is Fat 32, or that the files you are moving are Fat 32?.

Check the permissions of the account you're using; maybe you don't have enough privileges. Try logging on as Administrator or as a Power User.
Good luck.

Thanks for your responses. The OS file system is FAT32. We logged in as Administrator with all rights enabled and still no joy.
Extra info. We are able to create/modify/delete files on the harddrive, but unable to copy/move files around or to removable media. Copying over the Network is OK. That is why this problem, is so perplexing. It's usually the other way around.
