Hi. When I found out my computer cannot connect to the internet, I checked the following:
* My IP address, which does not start at 169 * My computer connection, it's hooked in on both sides. * Checked the router, everythings all connected. * All the computers are connected and have internet connections.
Things I tried: * Pulled the line out of my end for a few seconds and then hooked it back in. No go. * Restarted the computer even from a cold reboot. No go. * Messed around on ipconfig no go.

The first thing I would check is the router. First, ping it. If you get proper replies then check to see it's still getting a proper IP address from the ISP? (assuming of course you get it via DHCP and it's not static). If you can communicate on the LAN ok, then the router is working properly internally.
If your router appears to be working properly , or you're not getting the DHCP address from your ISP the problem could be the modem. One thing you can do is unplug it (the modem) for about 10 seconds then plug it back in. This will reset it and may fix the problem. If that does fix the problem, keep an eye on things as your modem itself may be going bad on you and require replacing.
