I cannot open any program or executable file by double clicking it on my desktop or by clicking on it from the programs group. When I click, nothing happens; no error message. At first I thought it was the SirCam virus or the PrettyPark worm that prevent one from running any exe files by corrupting the .exefile association in the registry. That doesn’t seem to be the case. How can I solve this problem to be able to lunch applications? Can someone please help?

The Swen virus also had similar symptoms to this, although it is an old virus now its still around, a fix is available from symantic. You may also want to try a full virus scan if you havent already (if you cant execute it then there are bootable scans available).
Failing this it could be that your registry is completely messed up,if you dont have a backup of your system state data the only real answer is to reinstall windows!Wizard ICT. Microsoft Certified Professional

There are a number of viruses that can cause the problem. If you think your infected any good AV program should help you out. An easy way to check for yourself is to load regedit, go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open\command and make sure default is set to: "%1" %* if the regkey is right then its probably not a virus.

I have the same problem as jtogar except that i can open my games but not other applications...I can't even open my antivirus to check for virues
emm, I have tried to type"regedit" in "Run" but as soon as the registry editor window came out, it disappearedSOMEONE HELP!
