cannot net use to a win xp machine

Comment:

cannot net use to a winxp machine over the internet. get an error messages saying
System error 1385 has occurred.

Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this
computer.

yes i can ping it and am providing administrator credentials

are you providing proper admin credentials: e.g

{domain}\administrator or
{localpc}\administrator

eg...if my workstation was called "xp1" than local admin would be:
xp1\administrator

usage:
net use \\IP_ADDRESS /USER:COMPUTER_NAME\administrator PASSWORD
