Hi,
I ran the window update and found 2 critical security update to install. (Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (KB832894) and Security Update for Microsoft Data Access Components (KB832483)).
I downloaded and updated them and everything went fine in this process.then I was prompted to restart. But when I restarted and enter Win2000 again, I run the windows update and I was told that I need to install these 2 update again. It seems these 2 updates weren't installed in my computer.
Does anyone know how to fix it?
Thanks a lot
Tcl

Yes, I did it w/ administor privileges and I always did the update like this before and no such thing happened. The wierd thing is that everythings went fine while installing the update and no error report. But after I restarted, the update reminder shows again, telling me to update again.
BTW, I have Macfee virus scan and Zonelab firewall installed, although I disabled them while installing. Do you think that will bring confliction?

I am having the same problem with Win XP Prof. and IE 6 SP1. I also use McAffee VS but I have disabled it during install. This must not be a wide-spread problem as I can't find very many people complaining. I have my OS on drive F: which is a little different, wonder if that makes any difference. I have downloaded the patch and tried to install manually, everything looks like it's working OK, but the update just doesn't seem to really take. You can check the file names and dates from the MS KB article, and see they are NOT updating.

I have the same problem, using Windows Me. My Windows Update installation history shows innumerable "successful" installations of "Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (KB832894)". In fact at least once daily since last November.
I assumed that it is restart which is losing it, and I've just got into the habit of re-installing it when prompted. I'd be quite pleased to find a way of avoiding that!
I've emailed Microsoft about it, but got no response, of course. I've also queried this with Packard Bell, in case it's something to do with the way they've implemented System Restore facilities on this pc.

I have exactly the same issue with this patch (KB832894 Cumulative Security Patch for IE6 SP1). I'm running Windows ME.
The patch appears to install, but an error is reported on restart. The patch is offered again by Update. I've tried 3 or 4 times now.
I am running TrendMicro AV software, but have not yet tried disabling it during install. I have downloaded the file separately from Windows Update, but haven't tried executing it yet. However, given that the error appears on restart I'm not convinced that AV software has anything to do with it.
Anyone got any ideas?

same here I am getting an error message KB832483 and KB832894 fail to install. Any one has been able to work around this? I have Win XP PRO as my OS.
