Hello
I ran the installer dotnetfx.exe (dotnet framework 1.1) from e:\software
The install was cancelled by me, because when it got to 0 seconds remaining, it stuck there for over an hour and a file it was trying to install couldn't seem to be installed.
So i downloaded the file dotnetfx off the internet, thinking the file on the mem stick is corrupt. When i tried to run the setup program it said it the drive e:\ was invalid
Now i searched the registry and deleted any instances of e:\ that i found, and i found 6, but the error still is the same. Here is part of the verbose logging of the problem
Action start 22:24:42: CostInitialize.

Please remember i cannot run msconfig as it isn't available on windows 2000
Many thanks for your help

Why aren't you getting it from Microsoft?

You should also be running IE6 SP1:

...but you see i did get it from Microsoft. I downloaded it and stucj it on a memory stick and ran the install from there. Thats where the drive E came in. Becuase when it stuck for over an hour, i then just stopped the install. When i tried downloading it from Microsoft website onto drive C, then it came up with the error i was telling you about. The memory stick is no longer connected.
I can confirm that i am running Internet explorer 6 with sp1.
Thank-you very much for your help, i am sorry i didn't provide you with the IE information first.

The link I provided is to the Redistributable Package...is that what you downloaded? You could also try running Windows Update.
