Hello,
I am trying to view a website I have built. Unfortunately, in Explorer I am unable to see the new version of the homepage. The old one keeps loading up. All my friends see the new one (they use Netscape and the same version of Explorer I am using).
I have used the 'delete cookies'and 'delete temporary internet files' options in IE 6.028 and have used Norton to delete cookies. I have even reset all my IE Internet Options to default. I have also put it to the highest level of privacy so that the cookie would not be accessed. That was a no go.
However in my C:\documents and settings\dp1(my computer name)\cookies, there is a cookie there. The bottom of that folder has the red icon with the horizontal white bar. Looks like a 'no entry' traffic sign. It says 'restricted sites' next to it rather than 'my computer.'
The cookie file 'index' has the windows icon so I don't know what program I can open it with (if that is possible).
I can't directly delete this or rename it. It doesn't show up on Norton. The name of the cookie is index. For the website I have built, the name of the homepage is index.html and is of course uploaded to the server. I believe this cookie is from that.
When I try to rename or delete I get the 'cannot delete index: there has been a sharing violation. The source or destination file may be in use.'
How can that be? Explorer is not open to that page. What could be accessing that cookie? I have no idea what program is sharing it.
This is a total mystery as I had no problems yesterday with seeing updates to the index.html file for my homepage. I had been making many corrections and then reloading them to the server. There is only one copy of the server.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Gene
