I have a computer lab with a windows 2000 machine
set up to share four printers. One of these is an HP
1055 designjet, and instead of bringing their (often
large) file to the lab, users often use the print to file
option and then copy the print file to the printer. The syntax "copy file.prt \\printsrv\hp1055" was
working, but I noticed that regular print jobs (those
printed directly from photoshop or autocad) were
unusually slow. So I changed the spool settings from
"start printing immediately" to "print directly to the
printer".This corrected the problem with slow print jobs, but
now when I try to "copy file.prt \\printsrv\hp1055" I
receive an access denied message. Change the
setting back to spool on the server and it works
again. What is going on here?? Is there any way to fix this?
Thanks,
CharlesS
