Reply: (edit)Are you running through a network at work or connecting at home? If at home, are you connecting to a Cable Modem or a DSL Modem? Are you IP configurations set to DHCP? A little more information would be good.. Life is more painless for those who are brainless.

Reply: (edit)Ok. Is your nic working?? You can tell by going to device manager. Go to control panel and then systems and then hardware and then click on the device manager. Listed under network adapters check to see if it is working properly. If it is not enable, enable it. Ok after that go back to your control panel and then double click on network connections. Then go down the list under this connection is uses the following items. Click on tcp/ip and click on properties make sure obtain a ip address and DNS server address automatically and you should be connected to the internet. Jim R

Reply: (edit)If you're using wireless, then you don't need the ethernet cable...Obviously... What's showing up in your Wireless network list? Life is more painless for those who are brainless.
