I just upgraded my Windows 2000 to Service Pack 3. After I restarted my computer and tried to access the internet, I could not connect to any site. The dialer works fine.
Has anyone encounter this problem after the service pack 3 upgrade?

Well, I did hear that Service Pack 3 isn't the greatest of all Service Packs, anyway. Try un-installing Service Pack 3 and using Service Pack 2 and see what happens. If you are able to connect to the Internet, my best guess is that it's a problem with Service Pack 3

when you did sp3 did you update i.e. to 6.0? dial in and run ipconfig from tbe command prompt (start - run - "cmd") then type ipconfig. check to see if you are actually logging on the the network (if an ip is listed). if so, try running other applications that use tcp/ip like aol instant messager, ftp. if those work download mozilla from mozilla.org (from a friends computer or whatever). if that browser works then you know the problem is i.e. remove from add/remove programs, and reinstall... or just use mozilla, i.e. stinks anyway.

We have found that after installing SP3, our clients and ourselves are unable to connect using DOS based communication packages. Tony, how are you trying to connect to the internet?

Comment to Response Number 2:
I was already using IE6.0 before upgrading to W2K SP3.
Comment to Response Number 3:
I am using dial-up modem and IE6.0 browser.
Thanks for the reply.
Tony

well... hmmm... did you try the other stuff I suggested? you need to isolate the cause of the problem. do other tcp/ip based programs work?

Response to no 4: Same here, except for the dial up modem. I have the same configuration but with a dsl dial in connection. Had to remove sp3 to get the connection back.
