I'm having problems access a particular website...Internet Explorer absolutely refuses to load it. I have checked all the settings I have for proxies, and everything is correct. I am able to access other sites perfectly, it's just this one that won't load.
The page I am trying to access is a java applet under HTTPS, and I've verified that Java is working, and that I'm able to access other websites under HTTPS. I've also verified that other machines in the building are able to access this particular website.
Do you guys have any idea on what could possibly be the problem? I'm really stumped on this one. I have updated the browser to IE 6.0, so that shouldn't be the issue. I feel like I'm missing a setting somewhere...

You could also check your HOSTS file to make sure that this web site is not listed in it.
That WOULD Stop you!
HOSTS file is in your windows folder -> "yourwindowsfoldername"\system32\drivers\etc
Good Luck. . .
:o)

All right guys, thanks for the input. I'll give it a try once class is out and let you know how it turns out.

Well guys, none of that info worked. I checked the hosts file, and the ip/name of the site wasn't in there. I also flushed the DNS on that machine several times, and it still won't go to that particular website. This is starting to get very odd.

if it's on the inside lan, (net), then you may be trying to go outside thru a firewall and back in to the site, that would create a block from the firewall as a "spoofed" ip address.
if that is the case then you DO want it listed in the hosts file BUT with the private ip, not the public ip.
example;
192.168.0.10 www.mywebsite.com
thats the private ip, or whatever yours is, as opposed to the public ip.
try going to the site with the private ip like this; (using your own ip of course).
https://192.168.0.10
and see what happens.

It's not a site on my network (it's out on the web on a server a long ways away from my current location).
I would understand the situation a bit more if it was a site on my network, however being on the internet it's crazy odd why I can't get it to work. You would think other pages on the domain wouldn't come up, etc., but it's just this one particular address.
