Comment: Hello; The motherboard of my old computer broke, so I bought a new computer that comes with windows XP professional. I want to install my old hard drive, which has windows 2000 server, into my new computer because I have all I need for work in that drive. My question is. Can I do that without losing the information on my old hard drive? I also will like to be able to boot for any of the hard drive too. I will appreciate any help. Maria Elisa

Reply: (edit)You can add your old HDD to your new system and still access your stored data on that HDD. Now to boot your server, i will advice you to repair your installation on your old HDD, it might solve the problem.

Reply: (edit)The old hard drive will NOT have the correct drivers for the bew motherboard. It may or may not boot up. Install it as a second drive and boot with the new drive that came with the system and just acess the old data as needed.
